Adina Thorn – Principal
LLB (Hons), BProp
Adina has specialist skills in property, construction and commercial litigation. She holds degrees in both Property and Law (Honours) from the University of Auckland. She is a current member of the Auckland District Law Society Property Disputes Committee.
Adina has extensive experience in leaky building disputes, having previously worked for law firms acting for both home owners and for defendants (including Councils). She has also been involved in bringing multi-million dollar actions funded by litigation funders. Because of her particular interest in the construction industry, Adina is frequently contacted for media commentary in relation to leaky building issues due to her wealth of knowledge and experience in this area. She has appeared before all of the Courts in New Zealand (and the Weathertight Homes Tribunal). She also appeared as counsel in the landmark Supreme Court decision concerning barristerial immunity.
Adina has expertise in a number of property related legal issues. Her knowledge of property valuation assists her in ensuring land owners receive appropriate compensation in Public Works Act land compensation disputes. She also has extensive experience dealing with disputes involving local authorities (Councils) and construction litigation.
Outside the law, Adina is an enthusiastic cyclist, runner and swimmer.

Rohan Havelock – Consultant
BA, LLB (Hons) LLM (Cantab)
Rohan works as a consultant to Adina Thorn Lawyers. Rohan practised in commercial litigation for 5.5 years at one of New Zealand’s leading law firms, where he was a Senior Associate. There he worked on New Zealand’s largest ever construction law litigation, involving a multi-million dollar claim that went to trial in the High Court for 9 months, before settlement was reached.
Rohan was previously a Judges’ Clerk at the High Court in Auckland. He is a graduate of the University of Auckland and holds the degree of Master of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Cambridge.
Rohan is also a Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Auckland, teaching and researching in Contract Law, Equity and Insurance Law.
Ross Dellow – Senior Solicitor
Ross has experience in a wide range of civil litigation and resolving disputes through mediation and negotiation. He has represented clients in the District and High Courts, and assisted on appeals to the Court of Appeal. He is a graduate of Auckland and Otago Universities, in law and science respectively.
Ross has practised since 2010, and prior to joining Adina Thorn Lawyers, he worked for two prominent members of Auckland’s civil bar. Ross works closely with Adina on all aspects of the firm’s practice. In addition to an aptitude for the technical aspects of litigation, Ross particularly enjoys working directly with clients and other parties to achieve successful outcomes in a cost effective and pragmatic manner. Ross enjoys cycling, often to work, but otherwise with his two children in tow.
Tim Collins – Solicitor of England and Wales
Tim holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of East Anglia. Prior to joining Adina Thorn Lawyers, Tim practised as a solicitor in the United Kingdom, advising individual and corporate clients on a broad range of contentious matters. He has a particular interest in commercial and residential property disputes, and experience in breach of contract disputes, professional negligence claims and debt recovery matters. Tim assists the team with current and emerging class action litigation, as well as working on other client matters.
Emily Elford – Legal Assistant
(enrolled barrister and solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand)
Completing a Bachelor of Laws degree in 2013 and then studying at the University of Copenhagen in 2014, Emily was admitted to the bar in 2015. She was an employee of ATL in 2015 before heading overseas in 2016. Emily has now returned to support the class action team with discovery.
Mary-Claire Heasley – Business Manager / Practice Manager
Mary-Claire joined Adina Thorn Lawyers in August 2012. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Auckland with majors in Marketing and Management.
Mary-Claire has a wealth of experience delivering results for service-based industries. Her primary role at Adina Thorn Lawyers is managing the office and client liaison. This includes responsibility for managing the firm’s class actions. In addition, she provides paralegal support to the team.
Rosalie Reeves – Reception / Legal Assistant
Rosalie is the friendly face that meets-and-greets clients at Adina Thorn Lawyers. She provides administrative and paralegal support to the team as well as class action plaintiff liaison. Rosalie is studying a Bachelor of Laws and Arts majoring in Psychology and Anthropology at Auckland University. She has a particular interest in litigation, property law and employment law.
