Compensation awarded can take into account or include the following matters:
- The full value of the land (including taking into account development potential of the land);
- Damage to property;
- Depreciation to the value of the land;
- The amount of land to be taken;
- Alteration of the plan;
- Legal costs; and
- Registered valuers’ costs.
It should also be noted that persons who are injuriously affected by land being taken (such as neighbours) may also be entitled to compensation even though their land is not being acquired.
